the (good) news according to holy matthew and holy paul’s letter to holy timothy critique endless debates regarding genealogies and especially anyone who thinks their’s could be ‘pure’. there is no such thing! the lord jesus has gentiles and an adulterous jewish leader in his lineage, not to mention adoption. there is no metaphysical meaning to lists of ancestors, but there is a physical meaning. biology is a subject of study i barely paid attention to in grade school, and was brainwashed against in university, but over the past few years have been nibbling on.
brett weinstein and heather heying and jordan peterson and razib khan have greatly contributed to my general knowledge on the subject, and i am eager to learn more. i used to view humankind as infinitesimally malleable, and i still see great potential, but now rather than limitless moves i see us having as many moves and stratification as are on a chess set. there are queens and kings and rooks and bishops and knights and pawns. there is diagonal movement and straight forward movement and L-shaped movement and en passant. there are ramifications to sex, race, and class.
the following is a list of some of my ancestors. i am a mutt of peasants, priests, meritocratic rulers, and hereditary rulers. i am a proud ethiopian and american who is mostly amhara, and perhaps 12%-15% oromo and 2%-3% tigrayan. there is no significant genetic difference between amhara and tegaru, to the best of my knowledge, and the oromo, as cushites, share a majority DNA with the tegaru and amhara who are hybrid semitic-cushites of west asia and east africa. these are just the names of the hereditary rulers, back to about 1270 AD, whom are well documented and make ethiopian history come alive for me.
