Dostoyevsky’s terse and terrible saying, “beauty will save the world,” rings true to me as I am sure it rings true to all of you, my dear readers. I have spent a couple of years writing to you about Afroasiatic Archeofuturism. Manna (what is it)?
It is afroasiatic, because it is situated in that liminal space betwixt and between Africa and Asia, according to genetics and culture. It is archeofuturistic, because it is not bound and chained to the parochialism of the present. It represents what is best about the past and the future.
God bless the AI zeitgeist. My last piece was about these tools that allow AI to assist human intelligence, to maximally produce greatness. Then, one of my new favorite Ethiopian artists, who did Rofnan’s album artwork for Sidist (VI), starts playing and making. I peeped game, and immediately thought, THIS IS THE WAY.
Only the fourth of Fanuel’s images comes off to me as borderline sorcery, for which you can watch my episode with Augustine Dickinson for a fuller discussion of the subject.
Otherwise, these images represent some of the beauty that I believe will save the world, beginning in the Horn of Africa, then beyond…
