All Hallow's Eve 2016
I don't have much to say today, but what I say will be direct and brief. Halloween's pagan origins are well known. You can trace this demonic heritage to the Celtic isles. The Latins (Roman Catholics) have attempted to tidy it up by commemorating all of the saints (all hallows). They have failed miserably. Many parishes of Protestants, Latins, and I fear even Orthodox are filled with believers who commemorate evil spirits sometimes for as long as a week or two in advance of Halloween. I've pronounced varying degrees of jeremiads against Halloween for some 5 years now, even though I grew up celebrating it every year as a ninja or a ghoul.
Let's keep things simple. Celebrating Halloween is a sin. Don't do it. Find a way to glorify God instead. Think about giving out Christian literature and healthy paleo/primal food to children who knock on your door. As the Looney Tunes swine used to say on my television screen when I was a young warthog, "that's all folks".
