His Word is my Peace Pistol
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places...And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God (Ephesians 6:12 & 17)
I like swords. I grew up reading manga, watching anime, dreaming of being a samurai, jamming my thumbs into sword fighting video games, and using the internet to window sword shop. The sword of the Spirit metaphor resonates with me. I like reading the word of God. The Apostle Saint Paul's epistle to our sistren from Epheson, unites my fancies. Thanksgiving and glory be to our lord. However, not every mind works like cogs moving through the compulsory school system. I copy and innovate explanations of truths of the word as often as I can. It is our commission.
Monopoly security producers (police), bible-belt families, and collapse preparers practice shooting their firearms at gun ranges to be able to accurately shoot at hobgoblins. They want their aim to be true. The idea of a blacksmith sharpening a sword may not illuminate the devotion to the word it takes to defeat demons. Let this cop a squat in your thoughts. My gun range is the holy book. Every new word I understand about the holy one, adds to my spiritual ammunition. I defeat my spiritual adversaries with the pistol of peace. I have bullets of submission, forgiveness, and repentance. The good news of Jesus Christ's eternal life, and his covenant with us thereof, engulfs the rulers of the darkness of this age. As it is written
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (Psalms 118:105)*
Furthermore, the twitterverse has been blessed by a quote that I have as yet not found the author of
Spiritual maturity isn't measured by how high you jump in praise, but how straight you walk in obedience.
Going to church and hearing sermons is cool. Shouting hymns while speeding on the highway is as well. But, nothing beats reading the word of God, when only he is observing, and obeying his words.
Glory be to the father, son, and holy spirit, one God, AMAYN. Now and in the future, unto the ages of ages, AMAYN weh-AMAYN LEYKOON LEYKOON.
Post Scriptum:
*The quote is from the KJV, a product of the Masoretic Texts. However, I numbered the quote with the Orthodox counting of the Psalms. Heterodox bibles will have this quote listed under Psalm 119. Whatever Bible you read, please read this Psalm of 176 verses. It is the longest Psalm in the Bible, and it feeds you reasons stacked on reasons lathered in reasons to get familiar with the word. Enjoy the way, and the truth, and the life.
