KALLISTOS
May the Living God rest the breath of life of Metropolitan Kallistos Ware in the bosom of our fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, forever and ever. The Orthodox have lost a giant, but the heavens have gained a saint.
I won’t front like I read his well-received introductory texts to the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints, The Orthodox Church and The Orthodox Way. Or his translation of the spiritually more challenging monastic texts the Philokalia.
But I have heard him speak on sundry topics: salvation, canonical order, ordination, and ministering to same-sex parishioners. I found him more wise than not, and he had a voice made for recording and teaching.
In order to keep his memory eternal, I highly recommend you set aside 90 minutes (all at once or in chunks) to listen to him preach salvation in Christ Jesus. Even if you think you know this subject well enough already, this will help you explain it better to your weaker neighbor, to whom you have an obligation of biblical proportions.
