Love and Liberty
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. (Mark 12:30 KJV)
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. (John 13:34, 35 KJV)
The lord God summed up his commandments with these two guidelines. Prayer to and revelation from, he whom has dominion over all, is essential to understanding what actions these words should lead one towards.
Even after this normative knowledge is accumulated, we must remember that humans are fallible creatures. This means that we may know what is right, and still fail to achieve this ideal. Nevertheless, the Christian keeps trying. Barry Goldwater famously claimed "Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice, and moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue". Liberty can be examined from a plethora of perspectives; social, economic, metaphysical et cetera... For a Christian, liberty in regards to the spirit is of the utmost import. This liberty is gained not through the libertinism or hedonism of submitting to earthly caprices, but of putting the Holy Spirit's will first. I love liberty, and this is why I serve Ab (the father). I am the Orthodox Intern of Christ.
