Moral Snacks
Our villages are to be maintained. It is a moral imperative for brethren, sistren, fathers, mothers, aunts, uncles, elders and comrades to come together in raising our children. Saint Paul tells the people of Epheson this in chapter six of his epistle
And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the lord.
I have devoted one school year of my life to the children in South Los Angeles. Even if my job is in secular training, mathematics and English, there are biblical morals that I teach. If not the whole meal, I give them snacks. When I spoke of greatness, I recounted Jesus's holy words
But many who are first will be last, and the last first (Mark 10:31)
I distribute State food for my students' supper, in the mid-afternoon. After they eat, we return to their homework. Being competitive can be used for malice, but should be used for good. If our goal as a competitor is nihilo, then our path is perdition. A meaningless end serves the will of the adversary and the slanderer. My kids host high speed chases to be first in line to be dismissed for homework help. Their end is simple- to be in the front. Why? Pssh, I ono. Their is no meaning to be found in this type of race. Their means are even worse. The violence of; shoving, tripping, damning, and lying. I put a stop to this.
From time to time I send an earthquake of a command to shake the foundations of their view of who is first, and who is last. I walk to the front of the line and warn them that not everyone that is in a position of "power" today will be so tomorrow. Then I repeat the words saved in print by Saint Marqos above. Followed by "ABOUT FACE, now the former back will lead us to our homework help room".
