Peace & War
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. (John 13:34, 35 KJV)
This verse cannot be quoted enough. It embodies the tenet of Christianity. Namely, love.
In any moment of conflict between Christians, a reminder of this commandment should settle the dispute. In altercations that arise during interactions between Christians and nonbelievers, the Christian should remember this commandment. Anyone who affirms their faith in the Anointed One,Christ, has become an ambassador. The role of an ambassador is to engage parties on behalf of a ruler. If a Christian is prone to conflict, then it may appear to a nonbeliever that love is not what drives that being. If Christians are prone to conflict, then it may appear to nonbelievers that love is not what guides them. This is a denigration of the work Jesus of Nazareth did in the name of the father, the son and the holy spirit. Christians are necessarilly in the business of public relations. As do other aspects of reality, we appear to humans. Our appearance should be aligned with our brand. Our brand is love, our brand is God. To not attempt to resolve disputes is to diminish the brand, to diminish the reputation of the lord God. Love thy neighbor.
Tips for Success Mid-dispute:
1. Vocally pray a topical prayer.
2. Celebrate Adonai (the lord) with a hymn.
Post Scriptum; Yes, there is a fiction novel titled "War and Peace" by renowned author and Christian Anarchist Leo Tolstoy. The reasons for the title of this post are two-fold. The first is that it is an homage to a man who remained perseverant in his pursuit of the truth, via scriptural analysis. The second is that I prefer peace first.
