Proverbs 23 Exegesis
The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who begets a wise son will be glad in him. (Proverbs 23:24 RSV)
In Father Andualem Dagmawee's Neqa Hiywet (fountain of life) we find four forms of biblical exegesis laid out for us.*
1) feedel (according to the letter / literal)
2) spiritual
3) moral
4) heavenly
I find 2 & 4 to be close enough to be one category. Nevertheless, this schema is helpful. It allowed Origen of Alexandria (whether canonized or not) to live a life with his face in Scripture and inspire innumerable holy ones to not snobbily mock Scripture for its age and first-glance baseness. Rather, Origen inspired innumerable holy ones to prayerfully and fervently study Scripture.
In the spiritual/heavenly sense he is "the father of the righteous" and if conscious is "greatly rejoicing". The beautiful Hebraic poetry that is the book of Proverbs repeats the message so that all ages can understand its import. Origen begat wise children and he should be glad.**
I teach and preach face-to-face, telephonically, and online. I hope to be the father of many righteous so that I may rejoice and the begetter of many wise so that I will be glad. If it happens in the flesh, so be it. If it does not, so be it. But, it is my earnest prayer that it happens in the Spirit.
Pray for me that God blesses my ministry according to His will.
