Thoughts on 1 Col. 1:7-13 from the church on Google Hangout
Introduction:
Orthodox from Seattle, San Jose, Sacramento and Los Angeles digitally congregate to hear the word of God. The digital world is being desecrated and sanctified on the daily. Here are thoughts that lean toward the latter.
Notes:
Epaphras is a spiritual leader. Maybe a deacon, priest or bishop. Appointed by St. Paul healer of the sick.
St. Paul preaches the gospel of unity and diversity. The Syriac, Coptic and Ethiopian churches share the same faith but have a host of different practices.
Love of the Spirit unites churches by seeking the heavenly reward. This reward is found by feasting not with relatives but with the indigent.
A trend of St. Paul is to tell us to pray without ceasing (incessantly).
Your holiness at home sanctifies the church (congregation) when you are amongst them.
Why don’t we have fruit? Why do we separate the parts of our lives that should be united in Christ? Work, home, church, school et cetera. Bear fruit at all times in accordance with God’s will.
We are no longer in darkness because of Christ. He removed the powers of the devils and shattered the devil’s kingdom.
But blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear. Truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, but did not see it, and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it.
Matt. 13:16-17
Context: We take for granted the grace of God. We are the temples of the Holy Spirit.
Pray for people you do not agree with. We don’t, that’s why we lack fruit.
Think about the modern Church when you read the holy scriptures. Do work for the church when no one is looking.
Furthermore, we must love each other.
