I have been writing publicly for around a decade, and I enjoy it dearly. I have been honing the craft much like Bruce Lee’s well-known parable of the fighter with few techniques but who trains them thousands of times a day. I’m sharp and proud. I think it’s safe to say I have never been paid to write, but certainly often solicited to write and to speak. The latter, I have been paid for several times.
Substack is a splendiferous spot where independent thinkers, doers, and tinkerers can circumvent institutional gatekeepers, and talk directly with people who support them with thoughts, prayers, and shekels. Some people tell me I inspire them, and that’s cool, but I also get inspired by people. Three different writers on this site came across my radar of what’s happenin’ over the past three months, and I support one of them financially and another through my Youtube channel. The third fellow, I just like to watch their moves from afar (not to be confused with Afar).
Here’s my plan.
1) connect the Tewahido Bible Study audio podcast
2) write about things I learn in my video podcast The Philosophy of Art & Science
3) aggregate posts from the legion of media I tinkered with yesteryear
4) commit my comments on the bible to the written word
5) scoff at, mock, and ridicule presidents, prime ministers, princes and their henchmen
6) uncover the history of the horn of africa
7) teach amharic
If all, or some (at least one), of these points tickle your fancy, please subscribe.
Post Scriptum: If 200 people contribute $5/month this will be a successful side-hustle. If 400 people contribute $5/month I could survive off of this and a few odd jobs a month. If 800 people contribute $5/month my last salary (although far from my highest) will be matched. Anything more and it would be hard to contain the already superlative joy that oozes out of every one of my projects.
