Just a random thought. One group who I think might be interested in potentially paying for a translation of the Geez Bible into English is the LDS. They seem to be heavily involved in lingistics and bible etc., translations. I believe it was in the Biblical Archeology Review and in writings by Orson Scot Card I read about this.

Great question. Yuge problem, but to keep it simple, we have in OT manuscripts a Greek tradition and a Hebrew tradition. The Greek is not an original, and says so within the text itself. The Greek was translated from a Hebrew text of which we have no surviving manuscripts. This Hebrew is more ancient than the current ones we have, and matches some parts of the manuscripts found in Qumran.
